Regrets - Jay-z

(Jay-z is illustrating his progression from small time drug dealer to essentially a king pin as he is no longer on the streets hustling, but has people on the streets hustling for him. This particular section sets up a scene in which Jay-z is watching his employees make a drug transaction, from a remote location in a BMW.)

( The exchange of drugs leads to money, making drug money somewhat metamorphic as the drugs turn into money)

( Jay-z experience in dealing drugs leads alarms his intuition, as he does not trust his potential buyer later concluding that he is a "Fed" and he and his employees have been set up. Jay-z can only hope that his employees intuition led them to flee the transaction as he did, as he is awaiting a phone call from the them to confirm their well being).

Die Antwoord

Die Antwoord is a group from South Africa, who are catching alot of attention worldwide. They are a very controversial group due to some of their lyrics and music videos. A few of their popular songs are "Rich Bitch" , "Evil Boy", "I fink you freeky" , and "Enter the Ninja".

Below is the music video to the song rich bitch where she picks on Americans throughout the entire song. In one part of the music video she is on the toilet and wipes her butt with toilet paper with Jay-Z's face (a POPULAR American Artist). She talks about how she grew up poor with absolutley nothing. Unlike many other people in today's society Die Antwoord didn't let money change them which is why I am a big fan. In another part of the song Yolandi the female singer says "f*ck the upper class" which caused alot of attention, both negative and positive.

Streets on Fire - Lupe Fiasco

Believe some say the neon signs
Might allow speakers repeating
And everything is fine
A subtle silence
To demolish the troubled conscious
Of a compass with no knowledge
And every freedom denied
Every dream is designed and broadcasted
From the masters to the masses
From the antennas on top of the shrines
As far as the receiving planet during a panic is shorted
It reports back everything in your mind
Everything is lying
Everything is dying
Everything is a rule
And everything is a crime
Everything was healed
And everything rewinds
And new weather burn a feathers off everything's line

The second verse of Lupe Fiasco's song is actually a play on the famous George Orwell book 1984. This book illustrates a world were everything is controlled by the government. It is a crime to go against the beliefs that the government and individuals who pursued freedoms were enemies of the government. The control the government had went as far as controlling the dreams of individuals.

I'm Gonna Be Alright- Jennifer Lopez

This is an old song by Jennifer Lopez, and one of my favorites. She is referring to her ex boyfriend telling him that even without him she is still succeding.

Friends of mine say to me
Say you got control over me
You're not alone, I played my part
Saw the way you were from the start
Cause I expect so much from you
You had a girl when I first met you
Did the best that you could do
Now I realize that I can't change you

Above she talks about how her friends knew that he wasnt right for her from the very beginning. I think anyone knows that it's not logical if you start a relationship with someone who is already in a relationship with someone else.

The Prelude - Jay-Z

Their beats is banging, their hooks did it
Your lyrics didn't, your gangster look did it
So I would write it if y'all could get it
Being intricate'll get you wood, critic
On the Internet, they like you should spit it
I'm like you should buy it, partner that's good business

These lines by Jay-z illustrate his feelings about the Hip-Hop industry over the past few years, as he believes that catchy hooks and pop beats contribute more to the success of young rappers than their lyrics do. This was not the case when Jay-Z first began rapping as MC's would have to be talented lyricist to generate a buzz within his or her community.Jay-z than illustrates the irony of hardcore rap fans complaints, that hip hop music is beginning to lack content, as these are the same individuals who do not tend to buy albums.

Moniques Room- Fred the Godson Decoded

"I Told you it's gonna cost you misplace things sorry if I lost you
I f-cked your best friend purposely
my heart is Teflon how you dare try hurting me
I f-ck shorty you hate I told her work with me
And she do it better than you b*tch
That’s word to me
We send the vids to your Facebook
I wish I would of seen how your face looked
While I’m violating, your a pretender
You caught amnesia, you don’t remember?"
This is a very powerful song that many people who just got out of a bad relationship, or were cheated on can relate to. Fred the Godson says he had sex with his ex's bestfriend and then refers to how he sent videos of the sexual activity to her facebook. He is saying that he is over her and he deserves better. He ends the song with "F*ck you, I hate you"!

1+1 Beyonce Decoded

"If I aint got nothing, I got you
If I aint got something I don't give a damn, cause I got it with you
I don't know much about algebra, but I know one plus one equals two
And it's me and you, thats all we'll have when the world is thru

Cause baby we aint got nothing without love
Darling you got enough for the both of us
So come on baby, make love to me"

This is a song from Beyonce's latest album titled "Four". This is a very emotional romantic song that is favored by many. Many people assume that she is speaking to her husband Jay-Z. She is saying that he is all she needs even if the world were ending.
